Do y'all have a really close relationship with your parents?

My mom is a deadbeat mom/grandma. And my dad passed away when I was 18 and we were best friends pretty much.

I don't have a relationship with my mother at all; she chose her boyfriend over her daughter so 💁🏻 I wasn't about to put up with that! 😂

I live with my mom and my stepdad but that's pretty much it. They love me and I love them and all that jazz, they're my family and they mean no harm... but the relationship between my mom and I is strained and difficult mostly due to the fact that she didn't technically raise me. My mom had full custody of me after her and my dad got divorced when I was 3 but she basically pawned me off on my grandma after that. I still feel like she chose my stepdad over me. My grandma (mom's side) and I have a closer relationship since my grandma was (and still is) the constant, strong motherly figure in my life. My grandma is so caring and sympathetic, and she helped me through so much when my dad passed away when I was 11. I loved my dad so much. I wish I could have spent more time seeing my dad, I didn't really get to grow up with him and it still hurts me to this day that I wasn't allowed more time with him. Everyone else in my family says that I'm more like him than my mom. I'm honored that my family thinks like that of me because my mom can be really selfish, critical, fussy, harsh, conservative, judgmental and demanding. My dad was always so adventurous, brave, energetic, positive, passionate and he was the leader of the pack. Long story short, I get along better with my dad (even though he's no longer with me) and my grandma than I do with my own mother. 🤷‍♀️

I'm very close with them. My mom is literally my best friend. I live in Colorado and they live in Florida so it's hard but they're coming to visit in a week! So yay!
