Work troubles

So I just started this new job in the food industry 2 months ago. I used to work at another food place prior, so I understand just how horrible customers can be. I'm currently cashier and people are just ruthless. When it was super busy today, this whole big family (including grandparents & aunts...) was ordering their food. Right from the start the mom was being super rude for no reason at all really. I was ringing up her food & she kept asking me in a super rude tone if I had gotten "that" meal "that" meal. I kept responding "yes, I got it". She started getting mad when I asked if the grandmas is with hers too, but little did I know they were paying separate even though they said "were all together". So she pays & they sit down. About 10 mins later she comes back up when it's still super busy & tells me "my daughter doesn't like blueberries, we want chips". I told her since the fruit came with the meal it would be like $1 for chips. To me that's like someone ordering chicken at a new restaurant but say they want a different meal "for free" because they don't like THAT chicken. A coworker behind me was annoyed with her as well & told me to just give her the chips. I grabbed the chips & put them down on the counter a little harder than I intended as I was in the middle of trying to kill the long line since there was a new girl working & she didn't know how to do things. After the morning shift, our manager talked to all of us & mentioned the lady & the fruit & another issue that happened with the new girl. He told us no ones in trouble, but next time just understand that customer service is a lot & sometimes you just have to please them no matter how rude or wrong they are. I feel as if I'm in such trouble though. I hate how I reacted but I literally have no say...it's just some people are crazy! I'm so scared I'm going to get less hours or they're going to think less of me even though I know he said no ones in trouble. I just feel horrible as if I did the wrong thing. People email the restaurant complaints even though they are completely wrong. None of the managers were around during this purchase so they were unaware of the situation until another employee said something. Maybe it seemed like something else to them, but I know what I meant. I'm home now & the manager who was there today won't be there tomorrow when I work, so I can't bring it up & explain my POV. I just don't want to get in trouble for this.
