Should people get to decide what percentage of their taxes goes towards certain things?

Let's say the Government gave everyone that worked and paid taxes a list of what their taxes goes towards. Should people be able to decide what percentage of their taxes goes towards what (with a few exceptions)

No. That's far too much information for the average private citizen to be able to review and process. It would be a clusterfuck. 
Not to mention that everyone would want their taxes to go toward popular programs instead of the more boring but necessary ones. That's why earmarking donations is a problem.

I think transparency with tax money would be helpful but no you shouldn't be able to opt out of the majority of things taxes go to.

That's what voting is for. You elect people who you feel will do what you want.
But I don't think there should be some online calculator where people split up their percentages individually.

No! People don't have the knowledge to do so to run the economy of a country.
The biggest % of my taxes goes against benefits!! Do I like it?! No!
I'd prefer half of it to go to healthcare, education and benefit but only for the sick- not for the ones that choose not to work because they make just as much as the minimal basic!

No. Because then many programs that are very necessary would have no funding at all. Some programs are vital to the lives of many people, but we may not even know of them.

That would be interesting. How would that work? Would it be like voting in an election? Or more of an individual basis? Like Sally Taxpayer could decide if her personal taxes went to the military, but I might choose to allocate mine towards education?

There should definitely be transparency about where our taxes are going towards, but not many people are able to make that sort of decision.

For example, what if many people choose to give most of their tax money to the military, and opt out of programs like funding education or welfare? Those things are necessary and they would suffer if we decided on what our taxes go to.
