What do you think emotional/mental cheating is?

It's personal thoughts really, but my boyfriend checks other people out and it pisses me off and hurts my self-esteem like crazy, so anything passes that is definitely emotionally/mentally cheating.

if he's checking a girl out, it's probably because I pointed her out. We trust each other, so shit like that wouldn't bother me.

Emotional cheating for me is when they develop feelings for another person. 
I don't care if you look at other people, I don't care if you flirt with other people, and I don't care if you sleep with other people (I like open relationships). But when you start ditching plans with me to hang out with some other person, and they are getting more attention from you than I am - it's a problem. If you develop romantic feelings for them - it's now cheating.

None of the above are really cheating. What do you mean by hiding texts? Talking to another women and deleting them? Yes that's cheating, but if you can't see his phone when he's texting that's not cheating. If you're insecure and you both trust and love each other he should openly let you look at his phone and vise Versa. Now if he has a secret account on a social media outlet and is talking to other women or men and hiding that from you, that's cheating. We've all gone through stuff that has made us worry it have low self esteem but the only way to get over it is to communicate.

I wouldn't consider any of those things emotionally cheating if they are honest about it. The only thing I would consider cheating is if they secretly have feelings for someone else and aren't honest

Emotional cheating is having an emotionally romantic connection with someone other than your current SO. Like flirting, thinking about the other person all the time, being able to open up to each other about personal things, sexual chemistry, etc. essentially being in a relationship with someone with zero physical aspects (yet).

None of these...and certainly not checking people out. It's annoying maybe the way he does it? But you're gonna notice an attractive person even in a relationship in my opinion

I think it's when you start relying on the other person to vent to and deal with problems rather than your SO. I think some of your options I would describe as simply being friends.
