Metformin... any success?

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS... my insulin levels are high and i have immature follicles. My doctor prescribed me metformin, I haven't started yet. Do you guys have any success stories or any advice or opinions on metformin?

I started taking metformin just over a month ago after no af for 3 months. I started on 500mg for a week and gradually got up to the suggested dose of 2000mg and after 3 weeks af came back. I have also started to loose weight.

I've been on metformin (1500mg per day) for about 8 months. After getting off the pill I had no periods for 3 months before my doctor gave me provera to induce my period before starting metformin. I bled almost immediately after starting to take it and after about 3 months my cycles have been consistently 45 days. Not perfect, but at least it's fairly consistent. It did make me pretty nauseous when I first started and I had diarrhea a few times but the nausea eventually subsides and the diarrhea was usually due to dehydration. Stay hydrated and don't take it on a completely empty stomach.I'm still waiting on a bfp but ovulation is becoming easier to actually predict. Changing my diet and lowering my stress probably helps, too. Good luck!

I took 500mg twice a day for over a year. It was supposed to help me lose wait so we could get pregnant. Didnt do a thing for me except make me sick and have the worse runs ever! I've had pcos for almost 10 years now and metformin didnt help with it at all.
