How early can I test?

My period is due on Friday but I am having trouble waiting, my husband is out of town and I would like to surprise him with a positive test if we are pregnant! I was wondering how far in advance I can take a test before my missed period and get accurate results?!

I took one three days before missed AF and it was negative. Two days later, one day before AF it was a very faint positive. A week after that it the test line was darker than the control line. So wait as long as you possibly can! It's possible to get early results but if it's negative that doesn't mean you aren't pregnant. Could just be testing too early.

With First Response Early Response you can test 6 day before your missed period. I used this one to just be sure but I had also missed my period for about 5 days and gave me a really dark positive and then used Clear Blue with weeks estimator and it said Pregnant 3+ weeks.
