If family helps you pay then they get a say. My husband and I payed 100% for our wedding so no one but us would have a say. We worked 7 days a week for 15 months to pay cash and 100% for our wedding and it was so worth it to have the exact wedding we wanted.

When I get married my parents will be paying for about half of our wedding and my SO and I will cover the other half. Since they're paying my SO and I will certainly be involving them in the decision making process. Also my mum will be helping me with the majority of the planning since my life is crazy currently. Plus the two of us have similar taste. My SO is the least involved in the process- he doesn't care what happens as long as he gets to help pick the cake. That's it.
