My July 23rd Baby Is Here

Ms

So my July 23rd baby turned into a July 8th baby! I went to my (almost) 38week appointment and had protein in my urine and high blood pressure so my doctor decided it was that time. So Friday night I stayed in the hospital and got a Cervadil strip inserted for 12 hours to soften things up. I then started my Pitocin drip at 6:30am Saturday morning and by 10:30am my water broke on its own and heavy contractions started in. At Noon they went ahead and gave me my epidural but turned off my Pitocin and all my contractions shut down so they had to restart my drip and wait for my contractions to pick back up. I made slow progress dilating but by 9pm I was finally fully dilated and 100% thinned so I began pushing. Unfortunately the second I began pushing my epidural ran out and we had no time to start up more and I immediately started to swell up. So I kept pushing making little progress at a time and feeling more and more with each push. Close to 10:30 I got my little mans head out but quickly they realized his shoulders were stuck. My doctor coated the inside of my vagina with mineral oil and had both hands in me trying to oil him up and loosen him but nothing was working no matter how hard I pushed. So I ended up with my nurse pushing on my uterus while I pushed and my doctor pulling at the same time and he finally shot out and was rushed off to be checked. My poor little man did get a fractured clavicle from being stuck and then yanked on but they say that's very common and that he will heal fast as it is a soft bone and it won't effect him in the long run. So we've just been hanging out getting as many snuggles as humanly possible, both of us feeling a little broken. I can't believe how much I love him already and if I had a choice to go through it all again I would in a heartbeat! 💙 Cohen Lee born 7/8/17 weighing 8lbs 7.6oz and 18 inches long.
