PSA: Long Post
On July 4, I started experiencing "Braxton Hicks" they were pretty persistent. They came every 10-20 minutes. They were uncomfortable like a tummy ache that lasted for a brief minute but went away but definitely came back. I didn't put much thought into it because I had a doctor appointment July 5.  I pretty much walked all day on the 4th, bounced on the exercise ball, and drank plenty of water but the Braxton Hicks just stayed there. They felt like a 4 on the pain scale. They were more annoying because I couldn't sleep comfortably since they kept coming. Of course when July 5 came and I go to doctor they stopped briefly. I expressed my thoughts to the doctor. My doctor checked my cervix and said you have not dilated any and your cervix is very high it's just your uterus preparing for itself. I did leave the doctor a little defeated because I was 38eks 4 days and thought my Braxton Hicks were my sign my body was dilating some. So when I left the doctors, they came back again same rhythm and intensity as before. I just managed it throughout my day. July 6 comes and they are still there. I now haven't slept in 2.5 days because these waves of annoying tummy aches won't go away. I call my ob and she says since the intensity has not increased and timing is still 10 minutes apart no need to be alarmed. I should keep walking, drinking water, and take a shower. So 4am rolls along July 7, and I still haven't been able to sleep, and I'm an ogre now. I called my ob and told her I can't take it anymore and I haven't slept. She says I can come on to the hospital which is 20 minutes away. As soon as I get off phone, I go to bathroom and I loose my mucus plug. I wake my MIL and tell her we need to go to hospital. While she's getting ready, the Braxton hicks start coming faster 7 minutes apart and still same intensity. I still didn't believe they were real since I didn't feel like the text nook version of what everyone says. When we get in the car it's 5:15am and my stomach started pushing on it's on. That's when my MIL put the car in full speed lol once we pulled up to hospital it's 5:25am and my water broke in car. I run inside and the assistant says you have to sign in. I explained that's not going to happen my stomach is pushing and I can't stop it. They bring a wheelchair out pull my to room and said we need to check your cervix before admitting you. She put her hand in and said I feel the head, and immediately rushed me to l&d. My midwife arrived in the room, and said these will be real pushes. At the moment it seemed like everything was at a stand still. I didn't feel anything and I was jus zoned into what the midwife was saying. I pushed 4 times and my surprise baby spit right on out lol I looked up it was a boy and he had a healthy set of lungs. My MIL badge said she was admitted in roomat 5:34am and I delivered at 5:46am. I didn't get to check in, get a iv, or even make the decision if I wanted pain meds. I had a 2nd degree tear which I didn't feel. All my fears of labor was put to side, and it's true you don't remember a thing afterwards. I my baby boy Bryson was 6lbs 3 oz. I had gestational diabetes which I controlled with a diet. I tested positive with GBS. I wasn't able to get the antibiotics since he came so fast. We stayed at hospital for 48 hours to make sure he was fine. He passed all test and we are home adjusting to this new thing called parenting.
