I know it's always a conflicting issue, but what are your thoughts on the following. Sorry if it's a bit confusing but I don't want to name names in case they're on here.

I have two groups of friends that don't have a crossover. A friend from one group unknowing used a baby name that we had picked literally first and middle name. When her son was born I said it was a great name and we laughed about how I'd had the same one picked. She made me promise that I'd still use it as it is also my late Grandfathers name.

I explained this story to my other group of friends at the time, 2 years ago now. A friend in this group is now pregnant and said that she was telling me that this particular name is on her short list. I'm sure she had just forgotten as it was two years ago, but I said I loved the name and explained my family history of the name. Another friend in the group said 'well you can't use it now'.

I'm a bit torn. I certainly don't expect my friend to not use the name, but I feel like I should be able to use it too.

What would you do?
