Giving up seat for a child on public transportation
My friend just posted this article saying that we shouldn't give up our seats for children on the subway, if the child is able to stand on their two feet for awhile. Not sure if there was an age cut off but the author mentioned that 7 year olds should be fine standing on he subway. The author of the article pointed out that a lot of parents expect people to give up their seats for children. The author said this promotes "babying" the child and "entitlement." I've actually have never thought about this and don't have strong opinions. In general, I do give up my seats for young children but not so much for teens.
What do you think? Should you be expected to give up your seat for a child? Do you think doing so promote babying or entitlement?
