My husband and I had an argument last night about my in laws inviting themselves over to stay two weeks without consulting our schedule. It was agreed upon by both of us that since I am pregnant, they will come in September and again in January ( one month after the baby is born). They live outside of the US. Yesterday my FIL called to announce he was coming with MIL (who has severe depression and dementia) in three weeks. My son starts school then and because it's his birthday, we wanted to go on a family babymoon together. Now my husband is mad at me for telling him to talk to his parents about rescheduling and he packed his bags and left. He said marriage is about compromise but hes the only one that sacrifices for the family. He checked into a hotel and hasnt called since. Back story- my FIL and MIL control my husband. He's their only child. They ask him for everything. He even orders pizza for them internationally because they're incompetent (theyre only in their 50's).  When they visit they dont lift a finger. MIL is an attention seeker who swears she shares my pregnancy symptoms and brags about how my morning sickness is nothing compared to hers. She apparently was hospitalized. Shes a hypochondriac. She has husband cut her food into smaller pieces for her. FIL keeps telling my parents that theyre not the real grandparents because they dont share the same last name as my son. Now they want to come and announce what theyve named our second child. How mad should I be that my husband left and didn't come home? No phone calls.. nothing. P.S- in laws come visit 3-4 times (sometimes 5) every year from overseas. They spend about 50 grand on plane tickets alone each year ( they fly prestige because MIL claims she cant fly economy with her "condition").. shes type 2 diabetic 🙄but so is my mom.. and my mom is super independent.
