Sweep???

I was wondering everyone is saying how they are getting sweeped and it helps with labor. I'm 38 weeks does everyone do this or is it doctors preference? My doctor doesn't seem to care to do much she doesn't even check my cervix every week. I got it checked last week and now tomorrow it's just the normal heartbeat and measures I was 1 cm last week

I am in UK, seems to be quite an American thing to get your cervix constantly checked!? Not once have I had an internal examination, not sure what it adds pre labour as doesn't tell you if and when you will labour, yes helpful in active labour to see how progressing . Also here they generally don't get excited till you are 41 weeks about sweep, then induction generally done 10-13 days overdue.

I had a sweep done Friday at 38+3 and went into labour that night so I def think it works!

I don't think doctors will do a sweep until you're 40 weeks.... I know some people have been saying their doctors did it earlier though.... I have my next appointment on Friday afternoon and I'm 40 weeks on Thursday so I'll probably ask that it be done then. I def do not want to be induced 😩

My doctor doesn't check my cervix.  He said that's pretty much a thing that can change in a day and it can make you bleed if checked too much

I had a sweep at 38 weeks . Another at 39 and now I'm 40 + 2 ( and I had one this am ) If she not here by Friday we are scheduling an induction . It really just depends on if your body and baby are ready . It helps some women and some women it doesn't . After the sweep sex does help but once again - you can try everything under the sun but if your nugget isn't budging - trust me - nothing will work. This is our third child and the only one that has been late . Everything is perfect - she's just content . I'm Hoping she will come naturally ( my other 2 did - all natural labors easy as pie ) bc I really don't want to induce but she's cutting it close . Good luck mama . You're almost there

My docs always did a sweep starting at 38 weeks. I had two with my daughter and they didn't do anything and still had to be induced. This time I am having one done at 38 weeks but I'm not hopefully it'll start my labor but may help speed things up for my induction at 39 weeks. I think it depends on you and your babies health as well as the doctor and hospital system when they begin things like sweeps, cervicle checks, and inductions

My doctor did mine today. As long as you are dilated they can do it I would bring it up to them next time. Praying it works for me

So I went for my sweep, after my friend telling me it was no worse than I smear I was shocked. It certainly bought a tear to my eye and the air turned blue. Really posterior cervix and it's still closed so they couldn't do a sweep anyway! Now booked for induction at 41+5 days but could still take days after that for baby to appear. In my head now i don't feel baby's going to come before then although I know a lot can change in 4 days!
