Is a psychology degree worth it?

Question

I am currently about to finish my bachelors degree in Forensic Science... I already have a AA in Criminal Justice and I am looking at all my options as a career.  I am 24 yrs old with no kids and it's just my fiance and I both working. But I am thinking of pursuing another degree in Psychology because I love to help people and etc. Do you believe it's worth it?

Psychology is a great supplement for any career. If you want to use only your psychology degree anole for a career you will need more than a bachelors.  Good luck on your new adventure.

I don't have personal experience, but most of my friends and fellow classmates from high school did psychology degrees. Besides the two that purses their masters (and one is now on her PhD), they all wish they'd taken something else. Most of them didn't really know what they wanted to do with their lives so they just took psych degrees and now have had to go back to school for another degree or work for minimum wage in an entry level job with little chance of promotion. The others transferred to another program within a couple years because either they didn't like the program, found something they enjoyed more or realized their current degree wouldn't get them the jobs they originally thought it could. I also have a colleague who got her psych degree couldn't find any jobs in the field. She got her criminal justice degree a couple years later and worked in a correctional centre for a while. But, she's now a vet because being a correctional officer wasn't what she'd wanted originally at all, but was all she could find in her area.
So unless you've got a plan (and it sounds like you do since you've already got other degrees so this one would be more of a supplemental one) I don't think they're worth it. As a supplemental degree or as a stepping stone to further degrees they can be very beneficial though.

That's what I'm about to do and to me it's totally worth it but it depends on your situation and aspirations.

If u know that you want to do something in it yes. I did one and didnt want to pursue a masters in social work or any phd and feel at a loss as to what to do next.
