PCOS and Metformin

I was just officially diagnosed with PCOS but my doctor says I am an abnormal case because I am not overweight. I had an HSG test and luckily my tubes are clear. My lab work shows a LH/FSH reversal and I do have cysts on both ovaries. My doctor prescribed 500mg of metformin to begin today for the next 8 weeks before he ups the dosage. My husband and I have been TTC for 7 months. Any advice with the metformin and has anyone gotten pregnant while being on this without clomid? I'm hoping for some baby dust soon!
