Formulas??????

Ladies I've been wondering what formula do they give at birth if you are not planning to breastfeed? I know my daughters 23&18yrs ago started on soy formula due to milk allergies, but what do they use now lol I'm 25weeks are really thinking of everything and I know with my girls I had to switch off a few different ones until we found the right one but I'm really wondering what do they start off with at the hospital and can I request soy?

Most hospitals in Illinois only carry enfamil which I know isn't soy based. I'd say ask the staff in L&D; if you plan to do a hospital tour. Most places don't offer alternatives so ask about that too. It may depend on your location though.

I was given similac in those prepared bottles as a supplement. I don't believe they had another option unless he was showing signs of being allergic or something

Whatever you do plan on go to website for coupons and samples before, that what you have a stash to use incase they don't like.

Similar although I wish I had brought my own. It made her soooo gassy. She got a little when she didn't want to latch the second night. Wish I also brought grip water to put on my nipples instead of resorting to formula right away.

I was given Similac both times. I'm due with my 3rd in less than 2 weeks and I've learned they no longer offer formula because they're trying to encourage breastfeeding.  I was not able to breastfeed either of my kids due to medical reasons and while I did try and will try with this baby too, I'm a little bummed out. I guess I will have to take my own just in case.

My hospital had Similac Advance. My mom told me to sign up with all the formula companies so I'd have free samples to try if whatever they gave me didn't work out, and to have coupons for the one that did. Maybe talk to your OB (or ped if you have one already) about the soy thing since both of your previous kids needed it.

Congratulations sweetie omg your new any day, wait a minute where do you live that your hospital does not supply formula for you. I have honestly never heard of this before . So what do you have to do bring your own?
