Bit of a depressing topic....

Emma (Saima) • Muslim convert, happily married wife, mama of two, environmental scientist and bookworm.

I'm just wondering if any of the ladies with children, or expecting babies, have made, or considered making, a will with their husband? The reason I'm asking is not because of property or wealth (not that we have much of either 😂) but more about stating who you would want to gain custody of your child(ren) if anything happened to the two of you. I know it's not a nice scenario to think about, but I have been worrying about this a lot since my son was born.

I suppose I think about it more because, being a convert, my family are all non-Muslim and, though I love them dearly, I wouldn't want them raising our son. So that means he would have to go to someone in my husband's family which would mean moving him 4,000 miles away from his current home.

I'm not expecting anyone to have the answers to our specific situation, but I am interested if anyone else has gone through the process of naming a guardian for your children in the event, and what their experience was like doing so?
