FTM Birth Story!

Long Story! I was due July 17th and our son surprised us by coming on the 10th! For weeks I had mild period type cramps and braxton hicks at 3.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I never timed any of them. At 4 am on the 10th the discomfort just seemed different so I started timing the pains. I was having irregular contractions about 10-20 mins apart and 1 min long. I couldn't sleep and went to the bathroom and saw my bloody show. I started getting really nervous and excited by this point! The rest of the day I was timing contractions on and off. They never seemed consistent but were closer together. I just alternated resting and packing last minute things in my hospital bag. Around 3 pm decided we should head to the hospital since it was 45 mins away. When I get there they say I'm 5 cm and 100% effaced so they admitted me. I threw up early on with the pain being manageable but I knew I couldn't handle worse and so I went completely against my birth plan. I got an epidural, pitocin, and they broke my waters. I can't bring myself to truly regret it though. I went from a 5 to a 10 in 3 hrs with barely any pain though having my legs numb was a bit irritating. My doctor didn't even have time to come! I pushed with ZERO pain!!! (though lightheaded and nauseous was part of it). It only took 2 contractions and 6 pushes :) I tore a little bit but not badly :) My husband cheered me on every step of the way! Colton arrived at 9:59 pm weighing 7 lbs 7.4 oz and 18 inches long! My husband and I both cried seeing him and he kept telling me how proud he was of me :) I fell in love with him all over again and with my son for the first time :)
