baby hanging out in crib?
My daughter is almost 10 weeks and is a very active little one. She's moderately fussy most of the time (happy one minute then overstimulated the next) though she loves songs, playing and being cuddled. I interact with her most of the day and she nurses about every two hours. She's been sleeping about 5-7 hr stretches at night which has been great but she's not much of a napper. Often I'll put her down and she'll be asleep for 15 minutes or so. The thing is when she wakes up she'll just hang out in her crib, bouncing her legs, looking at her hands, smiling and looking around the room etc. Sometimes I just watch her from the doorway, other times I come say hi, she smiles and keeps playing. Sometimes if she's really tired she'll fall back alseep. I usually pick her up after 20 minutes to a half hour of this. My question is, is there any downside? Is it ok if I just let her have this alone time if she seems happy? I usually take this time to eat, fold laundry etc. since she's attached to me most of the day but part of me feels strange leaving her alone when she's so alert. I'm also wondering if she'll associate her crib with play and if that might disrupt sleep?
