How early can you buy baby items?

Found out that I am pregnant today and I'm so excited, I want to go out now buy baby items but I know I can't because like I did last time and then miscarried,  but I am just looking on the internet at baby items for now but how early can you realistically start buying baby stuff?

Aww I know how you feel, I bought a ton of baby items just before i miscarried and when pregnant with my son I really wanted to go baby shopping straight away. I waited until the 12 week scan. After that me and hubby went and bought a load of unisex baby clothing and a baby record book. After 20 week scan we bought lots of cute blue clothing, playmat, bouncer, toys etc. Think I was 28 weeks when we went to mothercare and ordered the pram 😊

I think each person is different and you should do what feels right for you. Some ladies feel that buying things early is bad luck or that they couldn't cope with looking at the baby things if they miscarry so prefer to wait.  Others are more practical and happy to buy things when they are on sale etc and not wait. I haven't bought anything but I am knitting a baby blanket that will be set aside for if/when it's my turn.

I'm crazy and bought things before I was even pregnant so after my kiddo was born we had a TON of baby things!

Never too early to buy stuff, you plan on having one eventually right! I have a bunch of stuff and im not even pregnant

I started buying baby stuff probably a week after I found out I was pregnant! I found out I was pregnant after missing my period for two days, exactly 4 weeks pregnant! 😄 The stuff I did buy, I kept it within neutral colors. I couldn't pass up a car seat and stroller set that was on clearance at Walmart, $50!!!!!!

Normally they say after your first scan to make sure everything's ok with u both xx but u can wait until u find out the sex n then go spending xxx

I'm not even pregnant yet and my husband and I are slowly acquiring baby items. Especially ones we know might be too expensive right before/after baby is born but that are very doable now. And items that we want to be positive we have and don't have to put on a registry.  We know one day we will have a baby and figure it would be best to buy items slowly so we don't have to spend a lot of money all at once. Also as we are trying to concieve it puts hope in our hearts to know that one day we will have a baby and these things will be used.

I had my first when I was 20. I vividly remember my mom telling me to wait at least until my 20 week ultrasound to buy anything.  So that's what I did. A few years later I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. I would definitely recommend waiting. I know it can be tough cuz it's such an exciting time.

I didn't buy anything until I was 24 weeks. Not sure if I was scared to or just lazy!! Lol x
