juice?

What age did you start giving juice. Especially with it being summer time just wondering what was a safe age?

American academy pediatrics just revised their guidelines. Nothing before age 1, only 4oz daily ages 1-3.

I really can't stand when I post something asking a question and all these people pop on and lecture me so I really hope this does not come off like that at all! However, I really plan on never giving my two sons juice except maybe occasionally after 2ish years old. I only say this because I have nieces and nephews who are now addicted to juice. All day every day they say "juice juice juice" and they won't take anything else. With that being said they think any sugary drink is juice but still it worries me. Plus there was a child I knew who's parents gave her a lot of juice and her teeth ended up rotting. Now that was probably due to giving her a bottle with juice which you're not supposed to do. So I just caution you on doing it too early or too often. Hope this wasn't rude because of course it is your choice!

I work at a pediatric dental office, dentists so not recommend juice due to it severely causing cavities in their teeth or even future teeth. even if they don't have teeth it can actually effect their teeth when they come in so that they are already decaying. if you breastfeed too you should always be wiping their gums or brushing teeth due to breast milk being so sugary it can cause a lot of cavities as well.

I've given it to my 7 month old a few times. He was sick and that was the only thing he kept down. Doctor wasn't worried. I buy the kind in the baby aisle. No sugar added. I also water it down. He gets his teeth brushed every day also. I won't be giving it every day. Just as a treat once in awhile. Normally I just give him water in his sippy cup.

We started juice at 5 months . Pear juice it was recommended to help him poop. He's always been a really irregular pooper . So we drink juice no more the 4oza day . It helps sometimes not all the time tho

I don't plan on giving my LO juice for a couple years at least. She won't even know she's missing out on anything.
