Impossible Acne! h e l p

I've always struggled with acne (since sixth grade- and I'm graduating high school next year) and sometimes I get a few months where my hard work and experience with products pays off and my skin clears up, but it always returns in another form! I used to get whiteheads in random places but managed to eliminate those, and when I got older I got intensely painful cystic acne which I'm now on antibiotics for (which are rendered useless when I'm on my period anyways) and now I have these little bumps all over my chin and I've exhausted every trick I've learned but nothing is working. I'd really like to clear things up- and would deeply appreciate any short or long term solutions so that I can clear up my skin for my last year of highschool.

I have a similar problem. I get blind pimples on my right chin and jawline every month. My dermatologist says it's linked to hormonal changes, and no amount of washing or drinking water will help it. Now that I'm on birth control, it's really cleared up. 😊

If you are not sexually active or if you are on birth control ask your dermatologist about Spironolactone. Honestly it was the only thing that worked for me after struggling with painful cystic acne for 6 yrs. I wish I knew about it sooner so that I wouldn't get scars :( For girls specially teenagers it's almost always hormonal, and that pill is to balance your hormones. Sometimes they will combine it with birth control pills if Spiro alone doesn't work. Good luck!

Wow that's amazing I'm getting an IUD prescription tomorrow so I'll ask my doctor about spironolactone because my antibiotics are normally decent for keeping my cystic acne in check but are rendered completely useless in and around my period so I still get them frequently. Thank you!!

This was another product I liked. The benzoyl peroxide cream that comes in it is honestly the best out of all the others out there, and I must have tried atleast 20 brands. Definitely go for the Spironolactone but if for some reason you can't see a doc right away I recommend this. https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Cure-Treatment-Females-tablets/dp/B0000535CH

There are multiple options you can attempt my brother had horrible acne and my skin wasn't very clear either. I know you said you drink lots of water and I used to try that too but the only difference was it helped because most of the time I was usually dehydrated but after school I'd drink abt 8 cups by dinner and my mother had bought proactive which is a very strong product but I realized that I can't use i everyday because of how strong it is but it really clears your skin within a day of using it but the reason I'm telling you abt it is because they give you an exfoliater and if you use that twice a week it should really help and then stay very hydrated and eat alittle better too that will help and my friend has always had clear skin and says that every night she uses face mask from tj max that keep her skin clear too I hope this helps and I hope you read everything too I know it was a lot 😂

I've never dealt with acne until I got pregnant, my skin decided to freak out and came the breakouts. What helped me was African black soap, they have it at target for like $5 and it helped me wonders... and drink lots of water.

When I'm broken out I use it twice a day, morning and night (usually clears my skin in 2-3 days). But if I don't have a breakout I use it once a day at night.

I'm the most hydrated person I know! I eat quite healthy and am generally active although more sedentary as of late because I broke my foot...

I've had good luck with sulphur based treatments. Proactiv has a sulphur mask that I sleep in that is AHMAZING but also expensive

I'm an esthetician, I recommend using something with salicylic acid. I like dermaquest if you can get it near you. Also, find a good place that can do facials monthly for you (teen facials usually focus on cleansing and extractions). Stay away from scrubs too, they feel nice right after but are actually spreading bacteria around the face and will cause you to break out more. Hope that helps a little.

I used to use the Vichy line (face wash toner moisturizer etc) and I've used other scrubs and washed with salicylic acid but they don't help with cystic acne or little bumps just whiteheads and general cleanliness of my skin, thank you though!

It all depends on your skin type and what really works for you. For me personally I drink tons of water. The every first thing in the morning after brushing my teeth I put cold water on my skin to wake it up and then I use a warm water to open my pores. The cleaner I use it called noxzema classic clean it's amazing you can find it at dollar general Walmart etc. at night after before getting out of the shower I would take the same cleaner as I did in the morning and wash my face with that also with the warm water but after words I will use cold water to close up my pores for my body and face (do this in the morning after washing it off with warm water). If you don't close you're pores then bacteria and dirt and that will just clog up your pores again and make you have acne I hope this helps!
