One of my friends had twins and decided to breastfeed exclusively as long as she could physically cope with it. She did 6 weeks EBF and then combined breast with formula. She found tandem feeding fairly easy as her partner helped her position them and changed them for her. It was great until they naturally had different schedules and it all fell apart as her life was just one long feeding relay. Most nights she was getting no sleep at all and no break from breastfeeding. She started giving both formula before bed and then added a few more bottles in, breastfeeding when it made sense to. They both had some breast milk every day for the first 12 months. I think it became easier once solids were introduced as it evened out their eating schedules and she could reintroduce a tandem feed before bed. She just kept it flexible and assessed how she felt as well. 
I think she was absolutely amazing to do as long as she did and I think that any way you cope with twins is amazing!
