Mount Sinai West Birthing Center?

Question

Hey has anyone here given birth at the Mount Sinai West birthing center or in their regular L&D;? I'm really liking that I can have a midwife there but still work with a doctor and have the regular hospital right there if needed. Any and all experiences or comments are welcome and appreciated!

All my family and I have given birth at mouth Sinai medical center on 98st 5th ave.  It’s a great hospital. Great service and very attentive to all needs. Rooms r big and spacious. I’m currently 33 weeks and will be delivering there once again! It’s a Jewish hospital... Don’t listen to what ppl have to say, may be they are the problem and they wanna blame the hospital. Try it for ur self and u will see HOW GREAT OF A HOSPITAL IT IS..... Good luck!

Honestly not the best hospital. But I’ve only had one person ever give birth there. Look into how dad is treated, visitor hours, parking, security etc. a lot of city hospitals not allow partner stay the night. And depending on insurance you don’t get a private room. I gave birth in westchester county, best decision I ever made!!! New York presbyterian Hudson valley, one of the only hospitals in my that allows water births. I had a mid wife throughout my whole pregnancy. But mine wasn’t able to deliver me but the doctors and nurses are amazing!!

I was literally just trying to read up on the birthing center. Following for any reviews. Also how does it work with insurance?

I'm planning on giving birth there. the birthing center is right underneath the L&D; unit. you deliver and recover in the same room. Its a single occupancy room so you won't have to share the room with anyone else and you won't need to pay extra for a private room. the hospital makes you take 2 classes before you are ready to deliver to make sure what you know what you're expecting in the birthing center, they are $20 each class per person. If you want a minimal intervention delivery, then the birthing center is the way to go!

My friend delivered there and had a horrific experience and almost died. Hard to say of course whether it was the hospital's fault or just bad luck. Either way, she and the baby made it out alive and are thriving 8 mo later

I did March 2014 and now Sept. 2017.. love it.. amazing experience and the Team is fabulous! wouldn't birth anywhere else!

Oh I forgot to mention- it used to be called St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital and Birthing Center - I'm not sure how long ago it changed names.
