Asperger's Syndrome and connecting with others?

I'm still struggling with making friends and no one ever wants to date me despite trying to get to know people and asking. What should I do?

Hello! I have Asperger's, and I actually make friends with people who don't even know I have Asperger's in the beginning. Often they think I'm just a little bit weird, at first, but I'll also have to explain a few things. I also have BPD and anxiety, so friendships are hard for me too!!! But it all comes in time, in my opinion. I don't care much for dating, though, since I'm quite against sex and that is pretty much all that neurotypical boys want out of a relationship, which makes me incredibly angry. I've tried dating girls, and I currently have a sort-of long-distance girlfriend in England, who's been affectionate with me for about 5 years. She also has Asperger's and anxiety. In addition, is just like to say that it's really not an Aspie issue, this difficulty not having friends. Everyone goes through those periods, even though it's a bit different for us. Hey, I have AS, too! I was diagnosed when I was 8, and the first five years after that were pure hell. (Don't even get me started on why I stim! How the hell would I know?) Fortunately, things got a lot better in college, especially in senior year. Now I'm working full-time, and my coworkers and managers don't treat me any differently because of my condition. However, my life right now is highly work-centered, and I wouldn't feel right asking any of my coworkers on a date. What I'd like to do is either join a church for the social life (a Catholic church because I was baptized Catholic) or join an acting or improv troupe.

It's hard sometimes to deal with Asperger's and try to pursue relationships with other people. For a long time, I didn't have a lot of friends and it was hard to maintain those relationships. Until I got referred to a social group for people like you and I to socialize with each other. I made a lot of friends and just this past January I started dating my wonderful boyfriend. He also has problems but we get through it together. I hope that you find what you are looking for soon.

I'm not sure where you are located, but see if there are any practitioners of Social Thinking nearby. They do a lot of work with adults who struggle with work, dating, etc.
