This sounds silly but I have literally seen women on online forums claim masturbating in the first trimester caused their miscarriage due to uterine contraction. Is there any truth to this?

I'm wondering this myself. Masturbated twice a day or so ago, then fell asleep. Woke up to spotting. First time since finding out I was pregnant. I didn't even have "implantation" bleeding like I did with my last pregnancy. Went to the hospital to get checked and they told me to hold off on sexual activity for a while. I honestly believe that my orgasms from masturbating are what caused the bleeding. There was no penetration or anything, just a girl enjoying herself, then BOOM - blood. I will say the bleeding lasted a few hours and has stopped completely. US looked fine, but it's still early so I have to follow up with an OB to get my HCG checked.
