scheduled feeding?

So my little boy is a few ounces underweight so his pediatrician told me to supplement formula and feed him every 2-3 hours. hes 3 months old and ive been trying but even if i give him formula he just gets so hungry before the 2 hours unless i give him like 8 ounces of formula. im thinking ill keep with the supplementing but not sure if i should keep with the 2 hour thing. any suggestions or advice?

Why are you scheduling his feedings? Just feed him when he's hungry

Feed on demand! My son will be 3months on the 19th at his 2wk check up the doctor told me the same thing! However, I didn't really listen I pumped as much as I could feed him and if he was still hungry then I would give him formula. If he wanted more then I would try to pump again or give him 2oz more I feed on demand. He now weights 14 lbs and only drinking breast milk. You can try to pump or latch more often to produce more milk like every 2hrs. I also tried mother's milk tea and oatmeal but drink plenty of water.
