Gender roles?

Do you believe in general roles? If so, what  do you do in your relationship?

Answer

Pizza rolls for us, not gender roles. They have no place in our marriage. I change tires, oil, and fix appliances, and he sews, cooks,  and irons. We both work full time, both clean, both pay bills, and it works for us. We are very happy not having defined gender roles in our marriage, but I won't disparage anyone who prefers traditional gender roles. Their relationship is not my business.

I think each couple needs to figure out their roles based on their skills, likes and dislikes. Not just follow some script someone once wrote. Write your own!!

Even though we are both completely capable of taking care of ourselves we do fall into the "gender roll" category. He takes care of all the "hard" labor and outside work while I take care of the inside. Cook, clean, fold laundry, take care of him when he gets home, etc. I've always thought that the man is the head of the house and all that mess lol. Works for us.

There are no roles in my house. Growing up I was always told I had to do everything around the house and the man was the "bread winner." Yeah, whatever. 
My husband does the cooking, I tend to do the cleaning, we do the laundry together, we grocery shop together, and if he teaches me... I'll help him with something "labor" like.

We don't have a set "role or roles" we have a all in it marriage! We both clean and cook . I'm a SAHM and he is an owner of his business. I love love love being at home and him coming home to a clean house with laundry done and socks matched. Dinner cooking and he comes home to happy kids. Your home is your oasis. And I try to make it that way for him. And .... In return he does it for me. He will sweep of he knows I didn't get to it, or do laundry make a bed cook dinner. And it's an amazing thing. :-) were happy and in love and never argue.... Ever. It's almost weird . Lol but I don't think you should have a set role. As in man over the woman or vise versa. It's two people making it work and each giving a little time for the other

I am capable of doing all the same things he does, but when I got a flat he told me not to touch it that he would change it when he got home. He likes to vacuum, is better at ironing than I am, and I like to cook so I do that. I do most of the laundry but he can when he needs to...it's really split with us. When yard work needs to be done, we're both out there doing it together, I do the plants and he does the lawn. We have one day a week when we deep clean together and we alternate a lot of other things. I'm just a tad limited due to pregnancy so he's been picking up slack and dealing with my hormones lol

I do almost all the cooking. But That's because I love it. If I've had a long, rough day he's pretty good about taking the initiative to handle dinner. He takes out the trash & does other man things like building new furniture. Otherwise we do everything together. It's what works for us.

I dont mind gender roles too much as long as people dont say rude condescending things about it to you.
