Any advice?

I've been on the depo injection for over a year. stopped it in December 2016. been trying with my partner for a whole now. How long do you think it would take as I have very irregular periods so it's hard to gage when would be best to try. any advice?

Unfortunately, depo can stay in someones system anywhere from a few weeks to a few YEARS. I have noticed many women that hace been on it either get pregnant very quickly, or some take 2-3 years. I would assume it also depends on how long someone has been on depo. If your periods continue to be irregular, I would go see your doctor.

I think you'll be fine. I was on depo for 3 years.  Waited a year before I started trying again and got pregnant after 6 months. My cycles are also wacky anywhere from 32-47 days long. I would base my ovulation date on a 32 day cycle (which is my shortest) and just keep having sex until I have confirmed ovulation. You'll have to chart your temps to confirm ovulation and use OPKS to predict when ovulation is going to come.
