¿? Copper IUD ?¿

Recently, I've been thinking about getting a copper IUD. I'm sexually active (I've been practicing safe sex through other means). I absolutely to do not want to get pregnant.

I was previously on Trinessa pills. After taking them for about 3-4 months, I developed severe depression and suicidal tendencies. I'm currently a junior in college, and taking those pills tanked my GPA last semester.

So, I've been looking at non-hormonal birth control, because I can't go through that again with a challenging semester coming up.

Opinions and comments on copper IUDs?

Also, if you have a copper IUD, are you/have you thought about pairing it with the pill?

I have two friends who have gotten pregnant while having IUDs. Down the road, I'm open to possibly pairing the copper IUD and the pill (because like I said, kids aren't in my plans at the moment).
