I get comments on my age a lot. I'm 24, but look significantly younger (more like 18/19). I'm a vet and I get a lot of comments like 'you're the vet?' and 'you can't be the vet you're a child! and 'you must be the technician'. It really drives me nuts. I've got 'Dr X, DVM' embroidered on my lab coat/coveralls and I've introduced myself as Dr. X. You know I'm the vet so no need to equate me to a technician (a 2yr diploma program versus vet school which takes 6-8yrs depending on how much of your undergrad you do before getting in to vet school) or comment on my age. I've got the same level of education as any other vet and I know what I'm doing and am good at what I do. The only difference is that I've always been ahead a grade in school and I worked my butt off to get into vet school at a young age. 
I've even had clients be very rude to me before when Ive had 4th year vet students doing their rotations with me. Last year, I had a student who was close to 30 working with me. The client would not talk to me and treated me like a student that didn't know anything. The poor student didn't really know what to do as this was their first rotation and they were focused on small animal medicine and I'm a large animal vet. So they kept trying to defer to me or ask me questions, etc and the client kept jumping over them. I ended up telling the client to either leave and go to another vet or they could deal with me as their vet, but they weren't going to keep being rude to me and putting my student in a very tough position like that. Like I get that they look like they should be my teacher, but I'm the qualified one. Do you not want a qualified vet's opinion on your horses health? Or the student who's obviously floundering and scared?
