Maid of Honor

Hello! My best friend just got engaged to this extremely lovely guy and she asked me to be her maid of honor! This is the first wedding I will ever be in (besides my dad's and step mom's) and I know that the MoH helps to plan the wedding? They're not getting married in at least a year because both are still in college, but I was just wondering if anyone knew the basics of what I'd be doing? Obviously giving lots of support especially if she gets cold feet right before and possibly helping her pick out things, but I was wondering what else and what experiences other people had being the MoH? I know everyone's wedding is different, but I'm really excited and nervous about it because I'll still be in school and possibly by the time of the wedding I will be hours away still studying to get my master's. Any stories or advice anyone would like to share would be greatly appreciated!
