Brushing my sons teeth?

When should I start brushing my sons teeth? He's almost 13 months old and has 8 teeth

I started brushing my lo gums with a finger brush and water since she was 3 months. At 1 yo she has 9 teeth and brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and a soft bristle brush. I guess it all depends, but at the least a finger brush and water.

I agree with the other ladies. When they get their first tooth, it's time to at least wipe their tooth. My daughter has the banana brush and I use Tom's natural strawberry WITH fluoride. I was in dental before I entered my medical career and I am a firm believer in fluoride. I put the smallest amt bc you do not want them swallowing it, but they are too young to learn to spit. I don't really squeeze the tube, I just put the bristles on the top and just kind of wipe it on the top. Try to make it a routine in the morning after breakfast and again after dinner. They should not sit through the night with all that bacteria and sugars from milk on their teeth. My daughter loves to brush her teeth and then I finish up for her. Good luck and great question!

So I asked my pediatrician at 9mo and 12mo check up and he said not until she's 2... well I didn't listen to him bc her teeth were yellow! We now brush in morning and at night and she loves it. In fact last night after Jammie's she crawled to the sink and was pointing to her teeth bc she knew it was time to brush them!

actually, you should have been wiping his gums from the beginning. not judging at all, but start ASAP. infants fluoride free toothpaste and either a tooth brush or a finger brush (they sell both almost everywhere where I live)  start ASAP to prevent cavities. most dentists will actually see them that young too (that's not a must but definitely start brushing)

We started when he got his first tooth with fluoride free toothpaste but before that, around 6 months, I started letting him get used to the idea with the banana brush while I brushed my teeth.at 12 months, his pediatrician told us to get fluoride toothpaste. Though he also said you would use so little you couldn't even see it.
