Should you manage money jointly or separately?

My husband and I were together 7+ years before we got married. We've always kept our finances separate so we didn't change that just because we got married. He has bills he's responsible for and I have ones that I pay. We did open a joint savings account that we both contribute to but otherwise our money our money.

My boyfriend and I will manage our money together once we're married. Once married we believe that we are a team and that anything I make I make for us and our family. And the same goes for him. So we will have joint accounts and manage the money together. 
But, if we ever lived together before marriage (which won't happen, but we did discuss it) then we'd keep our money separate completely.

My opinion has always been separate before marriage, together after. Of course there are lots of exceptions. For example, my mom got remarried in her 60's and they both have their own assets that they've acquired over the years and they keep their finances separate- but it makes sense to me.
