Drop-in baby shower? Pros/cons?

Has anyone had or been to a drop-in baby shower? My MIL wants to host one for us, but I have only been to traditional ones. Pros & Cons appreciated!

I've been to a drop in house warming party.. I imagine it would be similar.. basically like an open house where people drop by anytime during the time frame. It'd be hard to games if you want baby shower games but I bet it would be less overwhelming having guests spread out and you can spend some one on one time with people as apposed to tons of people all at the same time like at a regular shower.
