10 minute labour

💖💖💖

It's taken me 10 weeks to write this as it still feels surreal.

I went in to be induced on Monday the 8th. I had been at 1 cm for 2 weeks at this point and was 2 days over due. My mum stayed with me till kicking out time at 8pm. I had 0 pain at this point!! I was bouncing on the ball, doing bridges on the ball, colouring, walking about - you name it everything. At 1030 I got some niggling back pain after doing the bridges so asked for some painkillers. The midwives gave me 2 paracetamol and said have a bath. I ran a bath and fell asleep. At 1130 I had had an intense pain and I thought it was the start of labour so I got out of the bath, got dressed and went back to my bed to ring the bell for a midwife to get more pain meds. They came to check me just as I had another really nasty pain at which point I said I wanted pain relief. When they checked me they said o was at 9cm and baby was coming. After arguing and saying no it wasn't since my husband was an hour and half away (said don't come till 4cm as will be hours - how wrong was I??) I called my mum and husband at 1137 saying come to hospital now as I was being wheeled to the labour room.

My plan of a water birth was totally out of the window!!

No pain relief as there was no time, not even for gas and air. She came SO SO quick that she was born in her membrane (in the water sack). I had all available Midwife's with me due to it being a 'rare occurrence'.

My dad got my mum to the hospital by 1050. Unfortunately by that time I had already given birth to my daughter. It was so so surreal and my husband got there 2 hours later due to motorway closure. When mum walked in she was in shock once she saw her as the midwives hadn't told her I had had her and that she was here.

10 minute labour for my first child - I can honestly say I was and still am in shock. But she is cute
