Atheists: does it piss you off when others say "I'll pray for you" and mean well by it?

I really don't care about that but I do get super annoyed with the whole "the lord is good surrender yourself to him and he will bless you" spiel.

it only irks me if the person has tried to push religious views on me or tried to mention going to church time and time again knowing i disapprove of such behaviour ... im not atheist im pagan but all the same i dont believe in one traditional god so if someone doesnt know and they genuinely mean good then i dont mind it

I just say Thank you, they mean it in a nice way and honestly that's all that matters

No I don't really have an issue with it but if the person knows I don't believe and still say it it makes me irritated for some reason. I grew up in a religious family who to this day tried to force me into Christianity so it pisses me off I guess cuz of flashback or whatever

I'm Catholic but struggle a lot with religion. I don't actually consider myself an atheist... I don't mind people saying they'll pray for me as its their way of being nice even if there are days I don't believe it will help. However, what upsets me is when people say I'll pray for you when there are obvious actions they could take to help the situation. A good friend of mine used to always say "Don't just pray for me, talk to me....be there for me!" I kind of think she has a point. This obviously doesn't pertain to Internet strangers but to close friends and family.

No because I'm atheist, not ignorant. Just because I don't believe in your views doesn't mean I need to let it bother me or upset me. When someone says they will pray for me I feel honored that they would put in that effort for me even if it's not in a way that I believe. They mean well :)
