Interracial relationships

Just wondering if anyone has any experience being in a interracial relationship? I thought that society was over it, I didn't even think twice when I met & started dating my current boyfriend. Our different races never even crossed my mind.. but we went out to breakfast the other day & a older lady came up & started raving about how cute & happy we were & we thanked her.. then she continues by reassuring us that she's 'totally okay with this' & that she has a sister in an interracial relationship who's happy, so she wanted to tell us different races can be happy together... is this something I will deal with a lot or was it just a random occurrence that happen early in the relationship out of chance?
