my uneventful induction 😊

Cc

I know alot of people are terrified to be induced so hopefully my story will help ease atleast 1 persons mind. first off this was an elective induction on my due date June 8th. my MIL and FIL flew in from out of state to meet baby that hadn't arrived yet! I wanted to make sure they got to meet their first grandbaby. So off we went to the hospital at 7am. we got there and into a room, they started pitocin by about 730 and doc came to break my water around 8. I was standing up and walking through almost all of my early labor until I my legs started to get tired. nurse checked me, only dilated 2cm. bummer. 2 hour later only 3. at this point I started to get discouraged the contractions were coming hot and heavy but I wasn't dilating what I though was quick enough. So finally I opted for the gas and air. very good coping tool. it didn't help me very much with the pain but it gave me something to focus on and take my mind off the pain. nurse checked me again this time I'm at a 4 and in tears from back labor. I knew from my first delivery as soon as I felt that back pain that my baby was sunny side up. so she orders the epidural. It felt like it took forever for them to come! I felt like I needed to push a little bit but I was more focused on getting that back pain to go away. a few mins later they had the epidural administered and told me to lay flat which I was not on board with. I was still in alot of pain then suddenly I knew it was go time. i told the nurse I needed to push, my body was doing it on its own. she checked me and said I was at 6 but wanted someone else to confirm. the other nurse says I'm at 10 and fully effaced. but baby was still high and not to push so my body could labor baby down. they called my doctor and he comes running in as they are putting my legs in the stirrups. I finally was able to push after what seemed like an eternity of holding back. and man did it feel good! It hurt like hell but at the same time it brought relief from my back labor. 3 huge pushes through the ring of fire 30 mins after I got the epidural, June 8th at 255 pm my sweet 6 pound 15 ounce baby girl was born 💕 I didn't tear at all and neither of us had any complications(aside from me not getting the full effect of the epidural)

. I'm not saying this is the norm but this was my second induction and the first was very similar. if your body I ready its okay! I'm not recommending induction but if you are faced with this decision just know its not always a horror show. I had the best labor, delivery, and recovery I could have imagined. good luck ladies! It will be over before you know it!!
