Boys and baby dolls?

Question

I babysit a little girl sometimes and the other day she had a baby doll with her. My 1 year old son loved it, and before that my mom was trying to talk me into giving him one for Christmas. I know some mothers who wouldn't dare give their son a doll, and others who could care less or think it's a good thing.  Opinions??

I think people spend too much time stressing over whether something is gender appropriate. If it's something your LO is interested in playing with, let him have his own. That's my personal opinion. I grew up playing in the mud with 4 wheelers, go karts and gi joes. I also had barbies and princess dress up clothes. Today as an almost 30 year old, I have no gender confusion issues. There's so much in the news it's almost sensationalized now and I think it's ridiculous. I'll get off my soapbox now lol, but honestly, let the kids play with whatever they want :)

My brother loved dolls. Bath time Barbie was his favorite. He's now a farmer. It's natural to feel connected to dolls regardless of your sex.

absolutely! do a youtube search of "baby doll circle time" dolls aren't just for girls. they teach empathy and caring for others! I'm a forum believer tgat there's no such thing as "girl"toys or "boy"toys. my daughter will play with dump trucks and pretend tools. if I have a son someday, he'll be offered dolls and dress up (yes, even princess dress up)

My husband used to play with him and he turned out just fine 😊 if my son likes them when he's older I'm not gonna make him feel ashamed for it

My MIL got my son one before our 2nd baby was born. He was interested for a while. I don't see any issue w it. He loves stuffed animals but isn't really into the baby dolls.

My brother has a doll named baby bill. It was a cowboy and they were adorable. Boys are kind and want to nurture, they need to practice those muscles too.

Any little kid I've ever known has been interested in both babies and cars. It's totally fine.

my 20 month old has a baby doll that coos and laughs we gave it to him so he would have something similar to the new baby that was coming home he also has a pink stuffed elephant and his favorite color so far is pink colors r colors toys r toys let the poor kid be that a kid
