What should I do?

My mom thinks my friend is very irresponsible and has no sense of danger because he pulled over on the side of the road to nap during a long trip we took together  because apparently it's "more dangerous then falling asleep driving " and will no longer let me go on trips with him. What are you people's opinions?

We were taught in my drivers ed class to always pull over and nap if you are tired behind the wheel. It's safer than driving while droozy and risking your life and the lives of innocent people driving on the road with you. It sounds like your mom just might be feeling the normal paranoia of her child dating 🙄

I'm pretty sure in the safety announcements the advise you to pull over and sleep if you are really tired. They said driving while tired can be compared to drunk driving. Your friend was a smart one

I agree with you. HOWEVER, I can see your mom's point. You shouldn't pull over on the side of the highway/interstate/road. A car could easily hit you. Pull off the road and into a parking lot or something.

In the uk there are signs on the motorway  saying tiredness kills, take a break! Seems sensible to me.

I asked my mom and she says that your mom is being stupid. She'd rather him have taken a nap, than fallen asleep driving. She also mentioned that nowhere is safe anymore and it's the same as going to a parking lot and whatnot. 🤷🏽‍♀️
