Clueless Alert: Taking Baby Out in Public?

Question

Sooo in four weeks or less I will be a mom! But, one thing I haven't seen covered in my books or childbirth classes was the protocol for taking my baby out in public. How soon is it appropriate to go out? Is there such a thing as too soon? Is there anything I should look out for as a first time mom? I'm planning on fully vaccinating but of course a lot of that doesn't happen for a couple months. This is coming from someone who didn't let their PUPPY go on public grass for four weeks until he had all his shots, so while I definitely want to keep my baby safe, I don't want to be insane or totally over the top. But I have no idea what is normal!! 
As you can see I am TOTALLY CLUELESS. Any advice on baby's first venture out into the great wide world is appreciated!!

We took our little one out for dinner when she was 4 days old. After that, we have pretty much gone out every day, or every other day. I just don't let anyone touch her, keep her in her car seat when we are out and about.

my girl was like 3 or 4 days old when we first took her out. We needed groceries so we took her. Dad carried her since we didnt get an imfant carseat. Leaving baby home for months is bad for their immune system. Exposure to day to day germs hrlps their immunr system develop. She didnt get her first cold until 6 months old, and it was only a mild one.

I took my baby out starting at 2 weeks to the library and stores and stuff. I kept him covered tho so no one could see him or get in his face. Just put him in car seat then stroller with the cover down. Drs say wait 6 weeks bc that's when they will have a little immune system (they don't get first shots til 2 months). But it's hard to sit home for 6 weeks. 1)I have 2 older kids and a husband that works everyday all day. 2) hello my sanity needs to get the hell out. I feel better when my life feels normal. N it's not normal to be stuck in the house. I didn't take him to church til 5 weeks bc old ladies can't resist babies. I stayed home as much as I could but only bc it's hot as hell where I am. Just keep him protected and close to you. Don't go to places that r full of germy people in close proximity to you n baby and cover baby up.

I think most doctors advise not to be out in public for 6 weeks, after the first round of vaccinations. Honesty though, it depends on what time of year it is and where you're going. I wouldn't take my kid to chuckie cheese in the middle of cold and flu season. But I may bring them to a family's backyard BBQ mid summer. It's common knowledge for people who are sick not to come near a baby. If it makes you feel better tell everyone to wash their hands.
