Anyone does swim lesson and how often?

How long do you plan on doing swim lesson? Or is it just for fun for summer or continue through winter?

My son has a private lesson once a week and I plan to do this for the next few years. We live in a beach town in Southern California about a mile away from the beach so knowing how to swim/ survive in the water is a must. I will probably discontinue the lessons once he is old enough to do junior life guards (ocean safety and swimming lessons) unless he tells me he wants to continue. Swimming/ surfing is a huge part of our local culture.

We go every Saturday morning and have done since she was 10 weeks old. She loves swimming & it's so nice to see her changing each week! Our lessons however are very expensive so will have to play it by ear for how long she goes but I would like it to be for a while!

We will probably do it year round.  But I live in GA and we get like two cold weeks a year.  I don't want her forgetting anything she learns at this age.
