Do you feed your baby if he/she wakes during the night?

My baby's doctor told us to not feed our son if he wakes during the night. He's six months old, wakes up once or twice a night (3-4 hours) and I truly believe he's hungry, so I don't plan on listening to his doctor. I'm just wondering what everyone else does.

My husband will sometimes go in and find her pacifier if she wakes and she goes back to sleep. If I get there first, she wants food and roots so I nurse her. She may not NEED to eat, but if any of my children ask me for food, I will feed them! Middle of the night is no exception. She wont wake at night to eat forever.

My baby doctor said the same but my baby uses me as a pacifier . I've been breastfeeding him so during the night he'll wake up just so I can put my nipple back in his mouth 😩 he think he suppose to sleep with it in there . And I be so tired so whatever I have to do to get him to go back to sleep I do lol🤦🏾‍♀️

If she won't calm by her pacifier or patting and shushing, or singing, I will feed her. MOST times I can get her back to sleep without feeding her though.

My boy eats every 3-4 hours at night. I have a small stomach and a high metabolism myself, so I don't feel like it's fair for me to expect his tiny little stomach to go all night without eating when he's obviously hungry, just because it interferes with my sleep!

I feed my son when he wakes up. since he started sleeping through the night a month ago he's only woken up and not been able to go back to sleep maybe 4 times- and because I keep track of how much he eats (bottle fed), I have known those days were always when he hadn't eaten quite as much during the day and was legitimately hungry. I  assume if he eats less than 26 oz and at least 2 oz of solids he will wake up after 8-9 hours instead of 10-11.

I try other soothing techniques but if he's still restless I'll offer a bottle. I think there's a major growth spurt right now too.

My thought: the chunkier, the better. I will keep feeding my baby so long as she wakes up and cries for it. She's ebf.

My baby is 6 months old too and we were just told the same thing from our pediatrician, but I really don't believe he's hungry it's more out of habit that he's waking up. We stopped feeding in the middle of the night and after a few days he sleeps a full 10-12 hours. Our doctor was right.

Um that's nonsense. Use you instinct. If you think he could be hungry the feed him.

If I fed my son well before bedtime and he wakes up, I'll let him cry a little longer because I know he just wants comfort feeding. He'll usually put himself back to sleep.

But most times, I give in and feed him. Only because my milk supply drops when I don't feed him at night.
