Failing hormonal contraception?
Out of curiosity: anyone else who has had problems with the pill, hormonal IUD, implanon, the patch or the nuva ring? I'm especially looking for people who have problems repeatedly.
What is your experience?
What's your solution?
Personally I've been on and off a few pills and the Nuva Ring in the past 10 years , mainly due to period pain and being mentally bothered by my cycle symptoms. I haven't used it for contraceptive reasons in years.
It's almost like my body doesn't want the non- own hormones, and after a year it starts overriding the pill. I recently quit the Yasmin, Yasmin is the winner though, she lasted almost 2 years. Gynaecologist said the mirena was a bad idea for me, but since the logic behind that is skewed I may consider it.
At the moment my body is feeling so much better on her own estrogen.
I just feel that if the pill only messes up my cycle it's not fully safe and I've had so much discomfort on the pill lately that I'm happy to trade that in for 2 days of bad cramps.
About 9 months ago I also had a chemical pregnancy, I hate to think that I may have been on maternity leave now had I not taken the pill. We're not ready for a baby yet, but still want the baby if contraception fails if that makes sense.
So I'm off the pill... And I suppose if I have less than 1 such scare per year that's more reliable than the pill in my case!!
