Did you test for down syndrome? or would u?

Im high risk do to GB (gestational diabetes ) so today i went to my doctor's appointment and they suggested /pished that i have a blood test down too check for 4 things but the only thing he mentioned by name was down syndrome. I was told that what they are testing for would show up in my blood.now i have to wait 2weeks to find out anything, I'm already a nervous reck from the GD and slight anemia. So im wondering is it a common test and is offered? or is it because of the GD?    Would you get tested for it?

I'm very low risk, but I'm still taking the test. Not to mention, I get to find out the sex early with this test. 💖💙💖💙

I am 35, so my insurance covered the tests completely. I found out I am having a healthy baby boy at 11w5d

I plan on it. Not like it will make me love my baby even less if it has a gift of Autism. I would rather be prepared though that way I can be more educated on the matter and how I can Anne sure I provide the best lifestyle for them ❤️

Everyone I know has automatically been offered it. I am really low risk so my doctor isn't concerned but I might do the test just so I can be better prepared in case my child does have any special needs that I could be made aware of before the birth

I'm low risk, I took the Down syndrome test. I think it's just offered to everyone.

I tested. I am high risk because of my age and I am having twins. One twin came back low risk the other came back moderate risk. I did some follow up tests including the NT ultrasound and they both came back normal.

high risk blood draws are usually a panel that involve the most common genetic disorders. they don't test just for one thing. and yes because you have GD that makes you a high risk pregnancy which incurs other tests. if your blood comes back positive for any of those conditions, they will probably suggest amniocentesis. during the 20 week Anatomy Scan they also check for Down syndrome

I wanted to test for sex and the downs test is included in the same test, so I did. I wouldn't have if it hadn't been grouped together though, I don't think.
