Drawing suggestions?

Question

I'm going to try out a new hobby of drawing! I have $30 set aside so I can get a few things after work today that I need to start. 
I want to try pastels but there are so many. Oil pastels? Dry pastels?
What are some bare necessities I need to start drawing? I want to get my FEELINGS on the paper. And should I try oil pastels as a start?
I want something that easily blends when I want it to.

Definitely don't start with oils and hard core styles like that.  Try sketching and water colors first!  Just to test the waters and find what techniques suit you.
My FAVORITE medium is pastel chalk.  The colors are amazing, and you can literally bend light with them!
But take your time and do what suits you!

Pastels are difficult as a "starter". The feel for it is definitely different opposed to different drawing techniques. I personally started out with drawing pencils and blending sticks. Q-tips work great as well.
