After you give birth do they give you your baby right away???

My biggest concern is my baby knowing who I am before anyone else touches her.

My hospital does, and if there are no complications, they do skin to skin for the first hour with no interruptions. Then they'll weigh and do what they need to do, then another hour of skin to skin. Then after the baby is 3-4 hours old, they get their first bath. My hospital wants baby in mothers room the whole stay at hospital, they only use nursery for circumcisions and if the mother asks for them to separate.

I believe it depends on your hospital and depends on if everything went smoothly. my Hospital policy was my baby went straight to my chest so long as they didn't absolutely 100% need to do something else first like if he didn't come out breathing or something like that

usually, then they'll check every  inch of baby to make sure everything's ok and if it is, you can hold her for skin on skin:) she'll know who you are though as soon as you talk to her when she's in your arms :)

Talk to your doctor. If the baby has some medical issue, they may need to be taken away to get help. But if the baby is healthy, they can hand him/her straight to you. It just depends on the circumstances. Just make sure your doctor knows you want to hold your child as soon as you can.

a lot of the tests that they do after your baby is born can be done while you hold it. its worth asking about. if they say yes, baby goes straight to you, thats great but sometimes if there's an issue, they need to handle the problem first. ask your doctor or call the hospital
