Do you take a degree away with rectal temp?

Question

My 11 week old has a recital temp of 100.6 would I take a degree away or would it be 100.6?
She got her shots yesterday and all she has done is sleep.

My pediatrician says that rectal temperatures are the most/pretty accurate. i wouldn't subtract a degree

Two weeks ago we had issues with a fever. They never said to take a degree away if it's taken that way. At 100.4 it's considered a fever. At 105 take her to the ER. Our little girl had a fever for a week and we called the doctor at 100 and they said it's not a fever until 100.4.... we then watched it get to 102 then 103 and we called again and they said put her in a lukewarm bath, feed her popcicles or let her chew on ice (in those mesh bags of course), you can switch from tylonal to Motrin every 4 to 6 hours. We took her temp again after all of that and it was 104.5 so we went on ahead to the ER and they said it was a virus. But I firmly believe she was Teething. The ER doctor told me to give her Gatorade, pedilite, a pro biotic and no fruit for 3 days (she had diarrhea and a bad rash to) her fever eventually broke. But my little girl is 10 months and taking table food. So it may vary especially with different pediatricians. Call the after hour number and check with them!
