Virgin scared of sex

So my boyfriend just said he bought condoms but didn't bring up the subject of sex meaning they're just there in case and I'm a virgin so I've never done anything more than making out shirtless. I'm kinda scared of sex itself but I trust him completely and really want to do it. Are my fears justified or am I overthinking?
